Lisa Sugar is an entrepreneur, media personality, and author. She is currently a partner at Sugar Capital, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments in the future of commerce.
In 2006, Lisa founded POPSUGAR, a global media and commerce company, with her husband Brian Sugar. Lisa is highly skilled in brand and social media management, having launched numerous successful brand licensing deals for POPSUGAR with major companies such as Disney, Target, Old Navy, Kohls, and Ulta. The company was acquired by Group Nine Media in 2019 and then by Vox Media in 2022.
Her first book, Power Your Happy: Work Hard, Play Nice, & Build Your Dream Life (Dutton; September 20, 2016), chronicles what she's learned on her founder journey. Prior to POPSUGAR, Lisa started her career in advertising at Young and Rubicam and then Goodby Silverstein and Partners.
Lisa graduated with a degree in Psychology and English from George Washington University. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, three daughters, and two loving terriers.
